This manual describes basic functions, the theory of electrical and mechanical operations, maintenance and repair procedures of the printer. The instructions and procedures included herein are intended for the experienced repair technicians, and attention should be given to the precautions on the preceding page. Notes of caution throughout the text are classified in relation to 1) personal injury and 2) damage to the team. That points out a caution, if ignored, could result in death or serious personal injury. Caution should be when performing procedures preceded by the titles of DANGER. The Stylus Photo R1800 is a photo printer designed for a wide range of users, from individuals to business users. As a successor of the Stylus Photo 2100 / 2200, this medium-high-consumption model is able to print from CD-R / DVD-R / roll on roll paper. If it detects any of the following States, this printer is in an error state and the activated interface - ERROR "Low" and "BUSY" to inhibit the entry of data. At this time, automatically printing the printer is disabled. However, when communication is done using the IEEE1284.4 Protocol, the communication with the printer is enabled. The basic mechanism is almost identical to the Stylus Photo R800. The most important difference is that the Stylus Photo R1800 is equipped with a dedicated sensor to detect a State of opening or closing of the cover. This prevents damage to the print head by mistake. The schematic below shows the printer mechanism.
