The printer saves electricity by automatically reducing power consumption when it stays idle for a specified amount of time. The printer then returns to full power after you press a button on the control panel or the print job is started. To save the toner the power save mode can be selected to print drafts with less toner. Besides the standard bi-directional parallel interface (Centronics plug), the printer was equipped with extension port which allows the network card to be installed. And, the data sent from the host computer automatically switches between the two interfaces entering any interface port. This printer supports the language of the Hewlett-Packard enhanced PCL5 printer. When the optional Canon A4 Translator Module (ROM Add-In) is installed, the printer also supports Adobe PostScript Level 2. The printer can sample the print data as it is received and then automatically switch between Personalities PCL and PostScript.
