- Turn on your printer
- Press and hold Resume button for two (2) minutes then release Resume button.
- Use resetter printer canon iP1980 for reset permanent
- Select USB port
- Click lock release
- Click ip1800
- Click device id
- Clear waste ink counter by clicking MAIN & PLATEN
- Check EEPROM Box
- Click EEPROM Dump
- Test pattern 1

What can I do when an error shows which says that the ink cartridge is not properly installed...thanks
I researched a lot for 15 days and finally found a solution WHICH WORKS.
Resetting has to be done by Canon General Tools and NOT by Canon IP tools. You can get the Canon General Tools from http://rapidshare.com/files/264920766/Resetter_ip1880_-_printer1.blogspot.com.rar
The .rar file is similar to .zip file and needs to be extracted by rar extracting software. I used rarextractfrog which can be downloaded from www.download.com
Switch on the printer and make sure it is connected to the computer. Make sure it is your default printer.
Once you have extracted the .rar file into a folder, open the folder and open the file generaltool.
1. Select USB port
2. Click lock release
3. Click ip1800
4. Click device id
5. Clear waste ink counter by clicking MAIN & PLATEN. (The greenlight on printer blinks)
6. Check EEPROM Box
7. Click EEPROM Dump
8. Test pattern 1
9. finished
i have an error that says that open ur paper output tray .then printing will be re started. whats it ? how can i solve it?
